Rotterdam in a Box – Tea With Edgar

With Edgar Tea is net als Rotterdam in a Box opgericht door import Rotterdammers. With Edgar Tea vormt een perfecte aanvulling of ons Rotterdams kerstpakket.

Wat bieden wij onze leveranciers zoals With Edgar Tea?

Tea With Edgar

Stress less – drink more tea.

Drink tea and de-stress.

It has been known for years –  drink tea to be calm. It’s not for nothing that monks are accompanied by a cup of tea whilst meditating.

Recent studies are illustrating what millions of tea-lovers have long believed – that if you are upset, stressed or anxious, it pays to make a brew.

Just one cup of tea can reduce those symptoms of anxiety and stress, making you calmer and clearer in your mind.

As well as the soothing qualities of the tea itself it has also been found that the ritual of drinking and brewing tea is also important..

Psychological tests indicate that tea’s calming benefits aren’t just a question of biochemistry but also there is a  social importance of the tea drinking ritual which is to be valued.

So you have you had a busy week at work? Do you have a busy weekend ahead? Then just sit down for 5 and share a nice cup of tea with whoever  is near to you. (and also With Edgar of course :-)

Here are some tea quotes for you to digest whilst sipping.

“A cup of tea would restore my normality.”

[Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Screenplay]”
― Douglas Adams

“When tea becomes ritual, it takes its place at the heart of our ability to see greatness in small things. Where is beauty to be found? In great things that, like everything else, are doomed to die, or in small things that aspire to nothing, yet know how to set a jewel of infinity in a single moment?”
― Muriel BarberyThe Elegance of the Hedgehog

“In Britain, a cup of tea is the answer to every problem.
Fallen off your bicycle? Nice cup of tea.
Your house has been destroyed by a meteorite? Nice cup of tea and a biscuit.
Your entire family has been eaten by a Tyrannosaurus Rex that has travelled through a space/time portal? Nice cup of tea and a piece of cake. Possibly a savoury option would be welcome here too, for example a Scotch egg or a sausage roll.”
― David WalliamsMr Stink

“Teaism is a cult founded on the adoration of the beautiful among the sordid facts of everyday existence. It inculcates purity and harmony, the mystery of mutual charity, the romanticism of the social order. It is essentially a worship of the Imperfect, as it is a tender attempt to accomplish something possible in this impossible thing we know as life.”
― Kakuzō OkakuraThe Book of Tea

“Who would then deny that when I am sipping tea in my tearoom I am swallowing the whole universe with it and that this very moment of my lifting the bowl to my lips is eternity itself transcending time and space?”

-D.T. Suzuki

Edgar’s blog: The sun has got his hat on, go naked with green tea!

Go naked with green tea

You don’t just have to drink tea to enjoy it. In fact there are many things you can do with tea to enjoy it. You just have to know what they are. So here are a few ideas I have gathered for you to try. The sun is shinning and your body needs some attention before you can throw of those winter layers.  Let me help you,  go naked with green tea. Go on, live dangerously and expand your boundaries. Notice the difference you can make to your body.  Drop me a line and let me know how these naked green remedies work for you.

Super chill body care!  Give yourself a treat and put 50 grams of green tea into your bath. Enjoy the luxury and experience the difference this green soak will make to your skin.

Spots move on!  Skin care. Many people swear by the  green tea facial wash. Make one yourself with the cold green tea you brewed earlier. For effective results wash your face at least twice daily with a green tea brew.

Hair baby.   While we’re in beauty mode, be sure to try a green tea hair rinse, especially with that summer sun and sand.  A rinse of strong green tea, left in until it dries and then rinsed out with water does the job just great. Some even say green tea can perhaps help with hairloss.

Smelly feet.   You like wearing your boots  with your latest new summer get up but hey what does it do for your feet cooked in your boots all day long.  I have said it before but will say it again. Treat your tootsies to a strong green tea foot bath. Nothing like it.

Sweet breath. Almost forgot, keep drinking your green tea because it is good for your mouth hygiene and that leads on to the rest…… yep green tea is thought to boost sex drive. Try it! I did ……..;-)

Have fun going naked :-)

Edgar’s Blog: Spring is here

Put a spring in your step with Edgar!

Here are some great reasons why people love the spring season and what my tea can do to help you enjoy it just a little bit more.

Outdoors:  As the snow melts and the sun gets higher we have a good reason to be outdoors soak up the light and air. Feels great after being cooped up in the house all winter. Don’t you agree the food and tea taste so much better outside in the fresh air. Use my Bamboo travel thermos to take your favourite tea along with you.  It not only looks great and is a fantastic conversation piece it will keep your tea hot and fresh for up to 6 hours!  Use tea to make new friends this spring and share a cuppa from my thermos! Buy now.

Expose your body: You can finally ditch the winter layers and get that body back on track for the summer. Mmm maybe we have a bit of body tuning to do before hand, Try my detox tea with green tea, lemon grass, ginger and juniper. This will certainly help you back on track to your summer body. The juniper and lemongrass have diuretic properties which help flush toxic waste out of the body. The ginger helps with the digestive system and if you have been working out a bit too much it can also help to ease muscle pain and soreness. Sheer bliss, buy now.

Be active: More light hours in the day to get more things done. If like me you start to slow down after dark I am thankful when the light evenings return and I never miss the opportunity to get more of those “little outside” jobs done. Nothing better than finishing the job with a great cuppa and listening to the birds as the sun goes down. Try it with a cup of my Wuyi oolong. The spring sundown and this classic oolong tea (which by the way is great for the digestion) is a combination difficult to beat and this combo will set you up for a great nights sleep. Buy now.

Happiness: Spring makes us feel happy. The exposure to more daylight and sunshine increases the amount of serotonin in your brain and this makes you feel happy. The colour yellow is also know to improve our mood and metabolism. Why not have some sunshine with you all day and try my Yellow Tea. This is special tea and a rare tea. Treat yourself and just shine. Buy now.

Edgar’s blog: Sophisticated peeps drink tea

Hi Peeps,

More and more of us are drinking loose tea. Yippee, that’s great. Loose tea is just as easy as tea bags if you have the right gear. Unfortunately, some people are still struggling with those “tea eggs”. You know what I mean, look good, looks design and does not work. :-(

You know the feeling – struggling with those little conventional tea eggs, the top not fitting properly, the tea spilling out all over the place when you come to empty it? Well those days are over with my beautiful design stainless steel tea filter.

Look no further, I have the solution.  A good egg. That’s my tea filter.

Not only is it beautiful to look at but it has many features which make it a good tea egg instead of a bad tea egg. – It is very easy to use – check out my Instagram  and youtube films.

– It fits almost all tea pots, tea glasses and tea mugs.

– The tea leaves can expand to their max with no restriction. This gives the best flavour.

– The lid keeps the tea hot while brewing and no burnt fingers because you can grasp the lid of the filter by the silicone band.

– Put the lid upside down and you catch all the drips.

Quite simply – no more messy tea moments. Quality coz it makes me and you feel good.

Sophisticated peeps drink tea – are you?

With Edgar Brains on.

Edgar’s Blog: Brains on.

Brains On.

Your brains can be very convenient for your well being. They help you to think, to work and most of all they are the reason you are alive. The human brain is an extraordinary organ that works overtime.

With this campaign image I wanted to focus on your brains. But what does this have to do with tea? Well more than you might think. First let’s go back to the human brain. The brain of a human works different to animals. Where animals are busy with surviving, humans are busy learning. They keep on developing. Humans invent stuff that makes their lives simpler. With these inventions they can learn faster and faster. Humans are self-aware, they can analyse themselves and improve next time. So the brains of a human are very important. Not just for themselves but also for the next generations.

For people to use their brain they need energy. Good nutrition is key for that energy but most humans like to get more energy. For that extra bit they often consume coffee, energy drinks or sport drinks. These contain a big amount of caffeine or sugar and energy drink has a big amount of both. And that definitely kicks in and will give you an energy boost! But this comes with a peak. After an hour you will need another peek and another one and one more. That caffeine or sugar peak is often followed by a dip. With tea this isn’t the case. Tea has l-theeine which is a similar  caffeine. But l-theeine doesn’t come with a peak. It’s generates alpha activity in the brain and will give you more alertness spread over a few hours. Think of meditation and why monks drink tea. Your brain is on 24/7 so it makes sense to spread out some extra alertness instead of going for the quick win. It is also known that the brain is more creative in it’s alpha state. Lieke Janssen made this awesome campaign image where you can see a brain in the shape of a tea pot. On the top of the brain/teapot there is an On and Off switch. If you need your brain just turn them on by drinking tea, With Edgar of course!

Panda eating bamboo

Edgar’s Blog: Bamboo, good for you?

Bamboo is special, very special!

Did you know that bamboo can grow really fast? Certain species can grow 91 cm within 24 hours, that is almost 4 cm an hour! The tallest stem ever measured was 50 meters high. Another cool fact about bamboo is that is grows in a lot of different climates. Often it’s being called a tree, never the less it is a type of grass. Giant bamboos are the largest members of the grass family. Bamboo is an economic and cultural icon in the Southeast of Asia, being used for building materials, food, and as a replacement for wood. This interesting type of grass is one of the most multipurpose natural material in the world. Just think about it, Panda’s eat Bamboo all day long yet in the western countries you see youngsters with Bamboo smartphone covers

One thing is certain, Bamboos are awesome! That is why I was keen to work with this material and looked at all sorts of options. Alongside this idea I was also looking for a stronger Tea Thermos bottle then the glass one you know from my webshop. Some of you were looking for a travel friendlier variation and it is finally here! Together with our producer I looked for the same features as on the glass thermos bottle. We came with a aluminium inside and a Bamboo outside. Bamboo has a higher specific compressive strength than wood, brick, or concrete and a specific tensile strength that rivals steel. So this might be one of the strongest Tea Thermos bottles out there! Inside the bottle you will find the same filter basket as in my glass thermos bottle. The basket works great for fine leave teas while you can also only use the top part of the filter for bigger leave tea. With this new bottle having it a aluminium inside it will keep you tea hot for an even longer period. It can keep you tea hot up to five hours! Of course it will cool down a bit quicker is you open it a few times.

Have a look at my new Bamboo Tea Thermos bottle!

Birthday cake happy birthday

Edgar’s Blog: Happy birthday & many happy returns!

Happy birthday & many happy returns!

On our birthday, we feel a heightened sense of specialness; it’s our day, and even if you aren’t over the moon about it all, it’s still nice to feel celebrated. Unfortunately, our birthdays only come once a year, and even though prolonging the celebration (like a whole weekend) is fun and all, it isn’t always feasible.

Just the other day one of my friends was celebrating a birthday. A great reason to pop in and have a chat and wish him many happy returns. “Many happy returns” is a greeting which has been used since the 18th century as a salutation to offer the hope that a happy day being marked (your day of birth) would recur many more times.  An old man once said to me about age and birthdays: “everyone wants to get old but no one wants to be it!”. He is right, some people just don’t want to acknowledge their mortality.  But hey! we should be happy that we completed yet another year on this wonderful planet. Us turtles know loads about longevity and enjoying it. Why not join us and embrace age!

When I was young and it was my birthday my mum always let me choose a “special birthday tea”. Special because it was my choice what we ate and if I wanted a bag of crisps, and chocolate cake then that’s what we ate. It was fun and different to normal! Somewhere along the line we have forgotten to make special days special or we do only half of it because we get too caught up in the hassle of daily life.

So let’s not forget to celebrate our birthdays and the number of returns we have to that day and make it special. Celebrate it with something that you love. Be it cake, crisps, pancakes or …..dancing. And if you choose with a drink why not try it with one of my very special tea’s like the Yunnan Golden Tips or the Wild Mountain Clouds & Mist to go with it. They are both winners with and also go great with birthday cake.  More for the savoury celebration? Then try my Seowang Sejak or my New Zealand Oolong. Built up a thirst after dancing the night away? Then my Sencha Matcha  on ice is a must. A special tea for your special celebration of life!

So, as Edgar always promises: add special to normal and appreciate the small important things in life. Take time to celebrate your special day and also those of your friends. Acknowledge every minute of every year you spend on this beautiful planet coz as my old friend says, “you better, coz nobody gets out of here alive!”

With Edgar Teagra

Edgar’s Blog: Teagra for your mojo!

”WARNING” My Tea is good for your mojo

First of all tea is hot, especially my tea! More and more people drink quality tea’s and this is great because tea has a lot of health benefits. Next to the fact that tea is a good replacement for other drinks it has a lot of anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals but you also drink loads more water with it! Water is one of the best things for your body. It cleans your organs and keeps your body hydrated. Tea and water a great team. The two most consumed beverages on this planet.

A healthy body is sexy! People that look after their body feel good and have confidence that gives a certain attraction. This is called mojo. Your mojo is key for flirting, dating and relationships. Pretty important that you don’t lose your mojo. But hey, ‘’My tea is good for your mojo’’. so just keep on drinking it!

With this campaign image I wanted to show people that tea can be sexy! Of course a lot of women are drinking tea and this seems normal. With men this isn’t always the case, they often have to explain themselves for not drinking coffee or even worse a soda drink. Well judgmental peeps, there is absolutely no need for that because tea is hot! That man is just keeping his mojo on a proper level. You should try it too.

In the image you see a teagra package with six tea shots. Teagra might be the best drug ever! If you want to upgrade your mojo a package of my tea is all you need! Take it along to work, a date, on holiday and definitely keep a package at home. If you are running low on your mojo then take a few tea shots and you are good to go!

For a further explanation about what mojo really means, here is a YouTube video from Austin Powers about his mojo. Enjoy yourself and remember My Tea is good for YOUR mojo!

Hello my cupcake,

Edgar’s Blog: Hello my cupcake

Hello my cupcake, fancy a cuppa?

Use, Hello my cupcake, for your pick up line and success guaranteed, if you’re a turtle like me. I talked about tea and food before in the blog post “Tea for foodies”. But this time I want to talk about high tea or afternoon tea or cream tea. Traditionally high tea is at the high table and is just and early dinner. Yes, we English like to drink tea with our meal. The afternoon tea and cream tea are more like the ”high tea” concepts we see a lot in cafés nowadays. Just a small meal, mostly sweet, with tea. In England this is something we do at a cafe or at home at around 3-4 pm in the afternoon. The afternoon tea just boosts your engine till dinner time in the evening which is usually around 7pm or later.

In other countries I sometimes see ”high teas” as a lunch or even a brunch. That is totally incorrect but I do like to see that people are copying the tea tradition. That quality time moment with family or friends is always good to have. Who am I to judge when you are having this moment and call it…

That said, what kind of sweets do go well with tea? Well basically everything. If you drink real tea it will not be very sweet and therefore complementing the sugars in your pastry. I really like a cupcake with my tea! The warm black Assam tea neutralizes the extreme sweet taste of my Red Velvet cupcake. Also I find it easier to digest the cupcake with warm tea.

Sometimes I hear that men don’t find the ”high tea” “afternoon tea” concept masculine enough. That is sad to hear because then you don’t realize something… First, women are crazy about sweets and pastries. Second, you sit very close to each other. Third, you share tea and food and now it’s getting more intimate…. Fourth, you eat with your hands. That means you can discreetly feed each other. Fifth, after the ”high tea” you have a whole afternoon and evening left. You know what to do!

PS. All her friends will love you before you’ve met them. Because you are that guy from the ”high tea” 😉
