Tea With Edgar

Stress less – drink more tea.

Drink tea and de-stress.

It has been known for years –  drink tea to be calm. It’s not for nothing that monks are accompanied by a cup of tea whilst meditating.

Recent studies are illustrating what millions of tea-lovers have long believed – that if you are upset, stressed or anxious, it pays to make a brew.

Just one cup of tea can reduce those symptoms of anxiety and stress, making you calmer and clearer in your mind.

As well as the soothing qualities of the tea itself it has also been found that the ritual of drinking and brewing tea is also important..

Psychological tests indicate that tea’s calming benefits aren’t just a question of biochemistry but also there is a  social importance of the tea drinking ritual which is to be valued.

So you have you had a busy week at work? Do you have a busy weekend ahead? Then just sit down for 5 and share a nice cup of tea with whoever  is near to you. (and also With Edgar of course :-)

Here are some tea quotes for you to digest whilst sipping.

“A cup of tea would restore my normality.”

[Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Screenplay]”
― Douglas Adams

“When tea becomes ritual, it takes its place at the heart of our ability to see greatness in small things. Where is beauty to be found? In great things that, like everything else, are doomed to die, or in small things that aspire to nothing, yet know how to set a jewel of infinity in a single moment?”
― Muriel BarberyThe Elegance of the Hedgehog

“In Britain, a cup of tea is the answer to every problem.
Fallen off your bicycle? Nice cup of tea.
Your house has been destroyed by a meteorite? Nice cup of tea and a biscuit.
Your entire family has been eaten by a Tyrannosaurus Rex that has travelled through a space/time portal? Nice cup of tea and a piece of cake. Possibly a savoury option would be welcome here too, for example a Scotch egg or a sausage roll.”
― David WalliamsMr Stink

“Teaism is a cult founded on the adoration of the beautiful among the sordid facts of everyday existence. It inculcates purity and harmony, the mystery of mutual charity, the romanticism of the social order. It is essentially a worship of the Imperfect, as it is a tender attempt to accomplish something possible in this impossible thing we know as life.”
― Kakuzō OkakuraThe Book of Tea

“Who would then deny that when I am sipping tea in my tearoom I am swallowing the whole universe with it and that this very moment of my lifting the bowl to my lips is eternity itself transcending time and space?”

-D.T. Suzuki

Go naked with green tea

You don’t just have to drink tea to enjoy it. In fact there are many things you can do with tea to enjoy it. You just have to know what they are. So here are a few ideas I have gathered for you to try. The sun is shinning and your body needs some attention before you can throw of those winter layers.  Let me help you,  go naked with green tea. Go on, live dangerously and expand your boundaries. Notice the difference you can make to your body.  Drop me a line and let me know how these naked green remedies work for you.

Super chill body care!  Give yourself a treat and put 50 grams of green tea into your bath. Enjoy the luxury and experience the difference this green soak will make to your skin.

Spots move on!  Skin care. Many people swear by the  green tea facial wash. Make one yourself with the cold green tea you brewed earlier. For effective results wash your face at least twice daily with a green tea brew.

Hair baby.   While we’re in beauty mode, be sure to try a green tea hair rinse, especially with that summer sun and sand.  A rinse of strong green tea, left in until it dries and then rinsed out with water does the job just great. Some even say green tea can perhaps help with hairloss.

Smelly feet.   You like wearing your boots  with your latest new summer get up but hey what does it do for your feet cooked in your boots all day long.  I have said it before but will say it again. Treat your tootsies to a strong green tea foot bath. Nothing like it.

Sweet breath. Almost forgot, keep drinking your green tea because it is good for your mouth hygiene and that leads on to the rest…… yep green tea is thought to boost sex drive. Try it! I did ……..;-)

Have fun going naked :-)

a little party never killed nobody party season

Edgar’s Blog: Party season

Party, party and party some more this season!

Enjoy oneself at a party or other lively gathering, typically with drinking and music. “put on your glad rags and party!”

synonyms: celebrate, have fun, enjoy oneself, have a party, have a good/wild time, rave it up, carouse, make merry; More

So put on your glad rags and party. November is here and the party season has started. Why is it that humans just like to party? Partying is seen as a part of our primal instincts. Early humans might have danced to attract a mate, as far back as 1.5 million years ago. It has also been suggested by some researchers that those who had a feeling of rhythm may have had a evolutionary advantage over their peers. The acts of moving together (dancing)  is what is believed to have been a way for our ancestors to bond.

One French sociologist has suggested that when partying people feel a certain “electricity” when they are in close contact with others. The feeling is then released to other party-goers, which sends them into a high degree of collective emotional excitement. I am sure that most of us have indeed had this experience at parties.

What makes someone the life and soul of the party? Well this is usually someone who is energetic and funny and also the centre of the dancing activity. This behaviour in turn attracts more of us to join in and “join the party” It makes sense then, that sometimes when we are excluded from a special party that we sometimes feel left out That’s why some peeps have turned party crashing into a real art. Check this link out for some tips. http://lifehacker.com/how-to-get-into-exclusive-parties-and-clubs-without-an-1453378483

Well whatever party you have in the agenda this party season. Remember even if it does not always feel good moving out of your comfort zone it is something your ancestors have been doing for years. So go on and move! Just like Driss in the brilliant movie The Intouchables.

Camellia-sinensis

Edgar’s blog: No sugar in tea

Tea and health – chill down, fit up with a cuppa.

Lots of peeps ask me about the health qualities of tea. Today a tiny little bit about green and black tea and why it is good for you.

All real tea, green and black, comes from the tea plant camellia sinensis. The type of production process determines the colour, green or black. Both green and black teas contain substances amongst others  like antioxidants, flavinoids, caffeine & theeine.  These substances can promote better oral health (no fillings – yipee!), better bones, lower blood pressure, lower the risk of strokes and last but not least have been linked to cancer prevention. In the next few blogs I will zoom in on the specific health aspects of some of the ingredients in my tea blends and what they can do for you.

Want to try some of my tea?  Have a cuppa with me….mine’s a calm green sencha, what’s yours? Check out my taster box.
